The Jefferson Street neighborhood in downtown Lexington, notable for being near historic West Second and Third streets consists predominantly of historic residential structures.  The Jefferson Street neighborhood is identifiedby the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Division of Historic Preservation as part of the Western Suburb neighborhood.  Some of the structures in this area date to the early 1800s.  Other later 19th century residences are located along West Second between Bruce and Jefferson.  This are not only has rich architectural and historic appeal but is currently undergoing an awakening with the emergence of a new and eclectic businesses in the area.
